SUMMARY: The Helicopter Instructor Pilot will, as part of a flight operations team, provide instruction and check rides within the Federal Aviation Administration’s established Helicopter Event Based Currency Program as well as providing recurrent training in both Bell 206BIII and/or Robinson R44 aircraft.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Flights are conducted in the vicinity of the DFW class B airspace.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.S. in Aviation preferred, or a related field, and two years of closely related experience, or High School Diploma and Technical School training, and two years of closely related experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific tasks to be performed by the Helicopter Instructor Pilot include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide flight training and checking in the Bell 206BIII and Robinson R44 aircraft.
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight briefings covering essential topics such as weather, route of flight, departure procedures, normal/emergency procedures, and tasks to be accomplished.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the aircraft systems, avionics, normal, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct all assigned instructional activities with an emphasis on safety, in accordance with our Safety Management System program.
• As Pilot-in-Command, apply the principles of Crew Resource Management.
• Utilize teamwork, multitasking, task prioritization, effective communication, and time management skills.
• Complete flight-related forms as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to obtain a FAA federal-level security clearance.
• Must be fluent in English.
• Extremely detail oriented, precise, organized and able to work independently and manage/prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be punctual in all aspects of job performance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Able to sit and work at the controls of an aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach daily.
• Able to perform general flight operations activities daily.
• Covid Vaccine required

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individuals must be able to work legally in the United States and be able to pass background check and drug screen. Individuals must successfully complete an initial training program and check ride and annually thereafter complete recurrent training.

Flight Time and Certification Requirements:

• Minimum of 1000 hours total PIC time in helicopters

• 300 hours dual given and a minimum of 50 hours instructor time in the past 12 months
• 50 hours actual/simulated instrument conditions preferred.
• Instrument training experience in last 12 months of 25 hours preferred.
• Valid Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII), Rotorcraft – Helicopter required.
• Minimum Second Class Medical
• Been authorized by endorsement from an FAA aviation safety inspector or authorized designated examiner to conduct Robinson R44 flight instruction and ground training as required by SFAR 73, paragraph 5.
