MQ-9 Pilot - Unmanned Aviation Services
Albers Aerospace, a company founded on the principles of Integrity, Commitment, and Excellence ("ICE"), seeks a highly qualified Launch and Recovery or Mission Control Element certified MQ-9 Pilot to support USMC aviation operations. This full-time position is based in Yuma, Arizona, and operates on a 90 days on/90 days off schedule. Housing is provided onsite during duty periods.
Job Summary:
The MQ-9 Pilot will act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of MQ-9 aircraft, ensuring safe and compliant operation. This role involves participation in all phases of flight, including planning, briefing, execution, debriefing, and crew resource management, adhering to strict military, civilian, and ICAO flight regulations. The pilot will be responsible for providing expertise in unmanned aircraft operations, developing briefing and training materials, and collaborating with US Government organizations and the original equipment manufacturer to ensure safe and efficient integration of UAS into the National Airspace System (NAS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) for MQ-9 aircraft, prioritizing safety and operational excellence.
- Engage in all phases of flight operations, including planning, briefing, execution, debriefing, and crew resource management.
- Ensure compliance with military, civilian, and ICAO flight regulations, including FAA regulations.
- Provide expert knowledge in unmanned aircraft operation, developing and delivering training materials to support flight operations.
- Plan and execute a wide range of in-process analog, digital, microwave, optical, and mechanical systems and equipment under various environmental conditions.
- Demonstrate technical expertise and experience in UAS operations to facilitate safe and efficient integration into the NAS.
- Collaborate effectively with US Government organizations and the Original Equipment Manufacturer.
- Contribute to the safe and efficient integration of UAS into the NAS, ensuring no reduction in existing capacity, safety compromises, negative impact on current operators, or increased risks to airspace users, personnel, or property on the ground.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified MQ-9 Pilot or previously qualified MQ-9 Pilot (Form 8 within the last 3 years).
- Minimum 200 hours as MQ-9 Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate or DoD equivalent.
- Ability to travel on CONUS/OCONUS deployments.
- Valid US passport.
- Ability to maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Prior DoD pilot training, specifically the USAF's Undergraduate Pilot Training, or USA, USN, USMC, or USCG equivalent fixed-wing training program.
- Bachelor's Degree (may be substituted for equivalent experience).
OR
- Initial Formal Training Upgrade (IFTU) training in the MQ-9 via the 18X pipeline or the following FAA certificate/rating: Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Airplane Category Rating and Instrument-Airplane Rating.
- For non-military pilots, provide documentation of: Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Airplane Category Rating and Instrument-Airplane Rating or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with an Airplane Category Rating.
Provide documentation if not previously qualified in MQ-9 LR: Complex Airplane Endorsement and High Performance Endorsement, Last page of civilian logbook that shows flight hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MQ-9 Instructor/Evaluator Pilot experience.
- 500 MQ-9 flight hours.
- Last flight within 180 days.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds without assistance.
