Ascend Pilot Academy Program: Launch Your Aviation Career with Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines
The Ascend Pilot Academy offers an intensive flight training program designed for aspiring commercial pilots with limited or no prior flying experience. This comprehensive program prepares candidates for a First Officer position with Horizon Air, while also providing a pathway to Alaska Airlines. This program demonstrates Horizon Air's and Alaska Airlines' commitment to equity, aiming to support all aspiring pilots, including those requiring financial assistance.
Training Details:
- Location: Hillsboro Aero Academy in Hillsboro and Redmond, Oregon.
- Duration: Approximately 3 to 3.5 years.
- Financial Support: A stipend of $27,000 is provided toward the commercial pilot certificate, with an additional up to $3,500 to assist with the Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII) certificate.
- Commitment: Upon successful completion of training and certification requirements, participants are required to commit to a minimum of 3 years of employment as a pilot for Horizon Air.
Career Advancement:
- Pathway to Alaska Airlines: Eligible participants can access a First Officer role at Alaska Airlines through the Pilot Pathways program.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must possess a valid passport enabling unrestricted travel to and from the U.S.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess a First Class Medical Certificate.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work a variety of schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have the ability to communicate fluently in English and possess authorization to work in the United States.
- Must have limited to no prior flight training experience, not exceeding a Private Pilot’s License.
- Must be able to relocate to Hillsboro Aero Academy training locations in Redmond, OR or Hillsboro, OR.
Program Participation:
Enrolment requires agreement to the release of the following records to Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines:
- Training Records
- Disciplinary Records
- Attendance Records
- Other records containing necessary and relevant information for program progression.
