About the Role

Alaska Airlines is seeking a First Officer to join their team in Seattle, WA. The First Officer serves as the Second in Command, ensuring passenger safety and a positive travel experience while upholding a high standard of professionalism. This is a union-represented position.

About the Role

• Serve as Second in Command for the transport of passengers, mail, freight, or other commercial purposes.
• Adhere to Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Flight Procedures, and Company Policies to ensure flight safety on scheduled flights and routes.
• Conduct all business activities with a professional demeanor and attitude.
• Operate Company aircraft in accordance with established Qualification Standards and Flight Manual operating procedures and policies.
• Communicate effectively with all required agencies and personnel, following Company Communication Practices.
• Possess knowledge equivalent to that of an Airline Transport Pilot certificate holder, with a comprehensive understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM).

Requirements

• Minimum of 1,500 hours of total documented flight time.
• Current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
• Minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time (airplane and powered lift combined).
• Possession of a current passport with unlimited U.S. entry and exit, and at least six months of remaining validity at the time of employment. Employees with non-U.S. passports must also possess necessary travel documentation.
• Ability to travel immediately and repeatedly to domestic and international locations served by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument-Airplane rating.
• Meet all aeronautical experience requirements for an ATP, Airplane category rating, as outlined in 14 CFR §61.159.
• Current ATP written exam.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License issued by a U.S. state or U.S. territory.
• Comfort with domiciles in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; San Diego, CA; or San Francisco, CA.
• Excellent judgment, leadership skills, and demonstrated commandability and maturity.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Ability to utilize sound judgment in decision-making.
• Capacity to maintain composure under pressure.
• Minimum age of 23 years.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Four-year degree from an accredited university.
• An FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
• 500 hours of multi-engine airplane time.
• Minimum of 50 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.
• 500 hours of turbine Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
• Experience with turbojet/turboprop aircraft in a complex flying environment.
