Philippines AirAsia Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated First Officer to join its Flight Operations team in Manila. The First Officer plays a pivotal role in assisting the Commander with the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the aircraft. This position demands a commitment to high professional standards across all phases of flight, including thorough preparation, effective in-flight duties, and precise post-flight activities. Key Responsibilities

The First Officer will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, ensuring the highest level of safety and operational efficiency:

  • Participating actively in the Commander’s crew briefing, ensuring complete awareness of all relevant aeronautical, meteorological, and technical information, as well as anticipated aircraft load.
  • Ensuring the continuous validity and up-to-date status of all personal licenses, medical certifications, passports, visas, and logbooks.
  • Conducting diligent cross-checks to verify the validity of required documents, such as licenses, passports, and SEP cards, for all operating technical crew members.
  • Performing duties as Pilot Flying (PF) or Pilot Monitoring (PM) as directed by the Commander during all flight phases.
  • Assisting the Commander in the effective management of flight deck operations through equitable task distribution, systematic cooperation, comprehensive information sharing, and diligent monitoring of flight progress, aircraft systems, airspace, and crew performance.
  • Completing and managing all necessary operational documentation, including the Operational Flight Plan (OFP), occurrence reports, and the Voyage Report.
  • Upon flight completion, assisting the Commander in finalizing all aircraft documentation, ensuring the flight deck is clean and prepared for the subsequent crew, facilitating proper handover to incoming crew or authorized personnel, and securing the aircraft as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate for the First Officer position will possess the following attributes and experience:

Essential Attributes:

  • A friendly, mature, humble, and honest demeanor, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude, capable of performing effectively under pressure in challenging operational environments.
  • Proficiency in both oral and written English, with an English Language Proficiency (ELP) at Level 4 or above.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact and discretion in all interactions.

Technical Qualifications:

  • A valid CAAP Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating (CPL/IR) or Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL).
  • A valid CAAP Class 1 medical certificate.
  • A College Degree or equivalent educational qualification.
  • A minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing flight experience or equivalent credited hours. (Credit for other flight experience includes 50% for rotary-wing time and crop dusting time, 0% for experimental category aircraft time, and 50% for Second Officer/Third Crew (e.g., System Engineer) time.)
  • Proficiency in modern cockpit operations, including Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS) and Flight Management Systems (FMS).
  • A strong understanding of aviation regulations, flight planning principles, and operational documentation.
  • Demonstrated skill in utilizing flight management systems, navigation equipment, and aircraft performance monitoring tools.
