The National Guard seeks an experienced Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the AR ANG 188 WGH WG at an undisclosed National Guard location. This role involves piloting advanced military aircraft, executing assigned missions with precision, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures.
About the Role
This is a National Guard Title 32 excepted service position. The incumbent will pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions. Responsibilities include utilizing advanced instrument flight techniques, adhering to strict flight parameters in all weather conditions, and maintaining mission qualifications. The role also encompasses comprehensive flight preparation, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and passenger/crew briefings. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to flight manuals, coordination with ground control, and decisive action during normal and emergency situations. Post-flight duties involve maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance. Additionally, incumbents may serve as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), representing the Air Commander and ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment, with the authority to manage flying activities, divert aircraft, and direct emergency actions.

National Guard Membership is required.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical may be required if not current.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act.

Must be able to obtain/maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Must be able to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications

General Experience:
Positions require knowledge of air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems in conjunction with flight instruments to direct aircraft movement for mission accomplishment. Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, weapon ballistics, and related avionics systems. Experience providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation is also relevant.

Specialized Experience:
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data; preparing navigation flight plans; operating navigational systems; testing and inspecting navigational equipment; utilizing various navigational methods and aids; computing flight factors to establish course and project balance; and training, evaluating, and certifying personnel proficiency. Validated completion of necessary flight hours for the applicant's current airframe is required (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time, including 200 hours in a C-130).
