Role Summary
The U.S. National Guard is seeking a highly skilled Airplane Pilot (Title 32) for the AR ANG 188 WGH WG in Arkansas. This position involves piloting advanced military aircraft on assigned missions, ensuring flight safety, and performing post-flight activities. The incumbent will also serve as the Air Commander's representative in managing flying operations.
About the Role

Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft.

Execute tactical/non-tactical assigned missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques.

Prepare for flights by obtaining weather information, planning routes, checking aircraft readiness, and briefing crew and passengers.

Operate aircraft with the utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals and coordinating with ground units.

Perform post-flight activities including maintaining logs and writing reports.

Serve as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of the unit.

May rotate to administrative tasks in Air Operations program support areas, including training, planning, safety, and inspections.
Requirements

National Guard membership is required.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to effective date of placement.

Military Grades: Officer (Minimum O-2/1LT, Maximum O-5/LTC).

Compatible Military Assignments: Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment, if applicable.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.

Qualifications

General Experience:
Positions in this series involve assisting the pilot in aircraft operations, including determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of the flight. Requires knowledge of air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems. Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and weapon system operation. Ground and flight instruction in air navigation is also included.

Specialized Experience:
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data; preparing navigation flight plans; and knowledge of proper operation of navigational systems. Validated ability to test and inspect navigational systems. Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids for flying missions. Experience computing flight factors and projecting course balance. Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency of lower-graded personnel. Validated completion of necessary hours for the applicant's current airframe (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time, including 200 hours in the C-130).
