The Arkansas Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Title 32) for assignment to the 188th Fighter Wing, located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This National Guard position requires active membership in the Arkansas Air National Guard.
About the Role
This role involves piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions. Responsibilities include executing precise instrument flight techniques, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems under various conditions, and ensuring mission qualifications. The incumbent will prepare for flights by analyzing weather, planning routes, verifying aircraft readiness, and briefing crew and passengers. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to flight manuals, coordination with ground units, monitoring aircraft performance, and taking corrective action as needed. Post-flight duties include maintaining logs, writing reports, coordinating with maintenance, and conducting checks. The position may also involve serving as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of the unit, with authority to manage flying activities and coordinate with external agencies.

National Guard Membership is required.

Must be eligible for compatible military assignment within the employing state's National Guard.

Military Grades: Officer (O-2/1LT to O-5/LTC).

Compatible Military Assignments: Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training within six months of assignment.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience
-
Work involves assisting the pilot in aircraft operations, including determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of flights.

Requires knowledge of various air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems in conjunction with flight instruments.

Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance deployment, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, coordination with pilots, weapon ballistics, and related avionics systems.

Includes providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience

At least 36 months of experience, education, or training in obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.

Experience providing knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.

Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.

Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance.

Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency and competency of lower graded personnel.

Validated completion of necessary hours for the applicant's current airframe.
