The Arkansas Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join their team at the 188 WGH WG in the United States. This position involves piloting advanced military aircraft, performing tactical and non-tactical missions, and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures. Responsibilities extend to pre-flight planning, safe flight operations, post-flight activities, and serving as a representative for the Air Commander in duties such as Supervisor of Flying (SOF).
About the Role

Pilots advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on assigned missions.

Utilizes advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids.

Operates aircraft within flight parameters for normal procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.

Maintains current knowledge of aircraft systems, procedures, and mission qualifications under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions.

Performs flight preparations including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and passenger/crew briefings.

Ensures utmost safety during flight operations, adhering to flight manuals and coordinating with ground units.

Conducts post-flight activities such as maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance.

May serve as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for safe and efficient mission accomplishment and having authority over flying activities.

May rotate to administrative tasks in Air Operations program support areas including Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspections.
Requirements

National Guard Membership is required.

Compatible military grade and assignment are required prior to the effective date of placement.

Minimum Military Grade: O-2/1LT.

Maximum Military Grade: O-5/LTC.

Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard or eligible for immediate membership.

Requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical may be required.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training within six months of assignment (if applicable).

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience
-
Work experience that involved assisting the pilot in aircraft operations by determining, planning, and performing the navigational aspects of the flight.

Requires knowledge of air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems.

Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and weapon ballistics.

Includes providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience
-
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training in obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data, and special instructions.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.
-
Experience providing knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.
-
Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.
-
Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight and projecting course balance.
-
Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency and competency of lower graded personnel.

Validated completion of necessary hours for the applicant's current airframe (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time, including 200 hours in a C-130).
