About the Role
The National Guard is seeking an experienced Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the AR ANG 188 WGH WG in Arkansas. This exceptional opportunity involves piloting advanced military aircraft on a variety of assigned missions, requiring precision instrument flight techniques and adherence to stringent safety protocols. The role extends to comprehensive flight preparation, operational execution, post-flight duties, and serving as the Air Commander's representative when functioning as Supervisor of Flying (SOF).
Responsibilities

Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes, including high-performance fighter aircraft, on tactical and non-tactical missions using advanced instrument flight techniques.

Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions, operating within defined flight parameters.

Maintain a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions, ensuring mission qualifications are met.

Prepare for flights by reviewing weather information, planning routes, calculating fuel requirements, and filing flight plans.

Verify aircraft readiness, including loading, weight distribution, and performing preflight checks.

Brief passengers and crew on flight purposes and emergency procedures.

Operate the aircraft with the utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground units, monitoring aircraft performance, and taking corrective action as needed.

Complete post-flight activities, including maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for the safe and efficient accomplishment of unit missions, with authority to direct flying activities and emergency actions.

Perform administrative tasks in areas such as Training and Scheduling, Plans development, Safety program administration, and Inspections, serving as a technical advisor.
Requirements

National Guard Membership is required. Applicants not currently members must be eligible for immediate membership in the compatible military assignment.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.

Minimum Military Grade: O-2/1LT.

Maximum Military Grade: O-5/LTC.

Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment, if applicable.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.

Qualifications

General Experience:
Demonstrated ability to assist in aircraft operations, including determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of flights. Knowledge of air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments and systems.

Specialized Experience:
A minimum of 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission and weather data, preparing navigation flight plans, and operating navigational systems. Validated ability to test and inspect navigational systems. Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids. Experience computing flight factors and projecting course balance. Demonstrated ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency of lower-graded personnel. Validated completion of necessary airframe hours (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time, including 200 hours in the C-130).
