About the Role
The Airplane Pilot (Title 32) is responsible for piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft. Key duties involve executing tactical and non-tactical missions using advanced instrument flight techniques and air navigation aids. The pilot will maintain a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, procedures under various conditions, and mission qualifications. Responsibilities extend to thorough flight preparation, including weather analysis, flight planning, pre-flight checks, passenger and crew briefings, and obtaining necessary clearances. Operational duties demand the utmost safety, adherence to flight manuals, coordination with ground units, monitoring aircraft performance, and taking corrective action as needed. Post-flight activities include maintaining logs, writing reports, coordinating with maintenance, and conducting checks. Additionally, the role may involve serving as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of the unit, with authority to manage flying activities, divert aircraft, and direct emergency actions.

National Guard membership is required.

Compatible military grade and assignment are required prior to the effective date of placement.

Military Grades accepted: Officer, O-2/1LT to O-5/LTC.

Compatible Military Assignments: Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment.

Must meet all military requirements without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications

General Experience:
Assisting the pilot in aircraft operations by determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of the flight. Requires knowledge of air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems. Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and weapon systems. Experience in providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation is also relevant.

Specialized Experience:
Minimum of 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data; preparing navigation flight plans; and operating navigational systems. Must demonstrate validated ability to test and inspect navigational systems and utilize various navigational methods to accomplish flying missions. Experience in computing flight factors and training/evaluating personnel is desired. Must have validated completion of necessary airframe hours (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time, including 200 hours in a C-130).
