The Arkansas Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the 188th Fighter Wing in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This role involves piloting advanced military aircraft in various mission scenarios, adhering to strict safety and operational procedures.
About the Role
The Airplane Pilot is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft. Duties include mission planning, pre-flight preparations, in-flight management, and post-flight activities. The incumbent will also serve as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), representing the Air Commander and overseeing unit flying activities to ensure mission accomplishment.
Requirements

National Guard membership is required. Applicants not currently in the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

Compatible military grade and assignment required. Minimum grade O-2/1LT, maximum O-5/LTC.

Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training within six months of assignment (if applicable).

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications

General Experience:
Work includes assisting pilots in aircraft operations, determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of flight. Requires knowledge of air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems. Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and weapon systems operation. Ground and flight instruction in air navigation may also be required.

Specialized Experience:
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data; preparing navigation flight plans; knowledge of navigational systems operation; ability to test and inspect navigational systems; utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions; computing flight factors to establish course and balance; and the ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe.
