The Arkansas Air National Guard seeks a skilled Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to perform advanced flying missions and related duties within the 188th Airlift Wing, located in Arkansas. This National Guard position requires active membership within the organization and offers a career focused on complex flight operations and unit readiness.
About the Role
This role involves piloting advanced military aircraft, including single and multi-engine, high-performance fighter jets, for tactical and non-tactical missions. Responsibilities encompass executing precise instrument flight techniques, utilizing air navigational aids, and operating the aircraft safely across all weather conditions. The incumbent will maintain comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, procedures, and mission qualifications. Duties also include meticulous flight preparation, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft preflight checks, and passenger/crew briefings. Post-flight activities involve maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance. The position may also involve serving as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for the safe and efficient mission accomplishment of unit flying activities.
Requirements

National Guard membership is required.

Compatible military grade and assignment are necessary prior to placement.

Applicants must be eligible for immediate membership in the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Military Grades: Officer, Minimum O-2/1LT, Maximum O-5/LTC.

Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation is mandatory.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training within six months of assignment.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience
-
Assisting pilots in aircraft operations by determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of flight.

Knowledge of various air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems.

Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance deployment, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and coordination with pilots.

Knowledge of weapon ballistics and skill in operating related avionics systems for fighter aircraft.

Providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience
-
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data, and special instructions.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.

Experience providing knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.

Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.

Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course.

Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency and competency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of necessary hours for the applicant's current airframe (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time, including 200 hours in a C-130).
