The Arkansas Air National Guard is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airplane Pilot to join their AR ANG 188 WGH WG at an undisclosed location. This Title 32 Excepted Service position requires a commitment to military service and involves piloting advanced military aircraft for various assigned missions.
About the Role
This position involves piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes, including high-performance fighter aircraft. The incumbent will execute tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing precision instrument flight techniques and advanced navigation systems in all weather conditions. Responsibilities include thorough flight preparation, including weather analysis, flight planning, and pre-flight checks. Safety is paramount, requiring strict adherence to flight procedures, coordination with ground units, and effective decision-making during all flight phases. Post-flight duties encompass maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance. The role may also include serving as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), overseeing unit flying activities and directing emergency actions. Additionally, incumbents may rotate to administrative tasks in functional areas such as Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspections, acting as the Commander's principal advisor and technical expert.

National Guard membership is required.

Compatible military grade and assignment are required prior to effective date of placement.

Minimum military grade: O-2/1LT.

Maximum military grade: O-5/LTC.

Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment (if applicable).

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience
-
Knowledge of various methods of air navigation.

Skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems in conjunction with flight instruments to direct aircraft movement.

Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance use and deployment; skill to conduct preflight checks, recognize malfunctions, and coordinate delivery with the pilot; and knowledge of weapon ballistics and skill to operate related avionics systems for fighter aircraft.

Experience providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience

At least 36 months experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data and special instructions.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.

Experience providing knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.

Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.

Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course.

Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency and competency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe.
