The Arkansas Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the 188th Fighter Wing at Fort Smith, AR. This national guard position requires membership in the Arkansas Air National Guard and involves piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft on assigned missions. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of flight operations, including pre-flight planning, in-flight execution, and post-flight activities, while adhering to the highest safety standards.
About the Role
This position involves piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, on tactical and non-tactical missions. Responsibilities include utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques, adhering to flight parameters in all weather conditions, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures, and ensuring mission qualifications. The role also entails preparing for flights, including weather and route planning, flight plan filing, aircraft readiness checks, passenger briefings, and obtaining necessary clearances. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to flight manuals, coordination with ground units, monitoring aircraft performance, and executing corrective actions, including emergency procedures.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.

Minimum Military Grade: O-2/1LT

Maximum Military Grade: O-5/LTC

Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications

General Experience:
Experience related to assisting pilots in aircraft operations, determining and performing navigational aspects of flights, knowledge of air navigation methods, and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems.

Specialized Experience:
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data; preparing navigation flight plans; knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems; testing and inspecting navigational equipment; utilizing various navigational methods and aids; computing the effect of various factors during flight; and the ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time which includes 200 hours' time in the C-130).
