About the Role
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an Airplane Pilot (Title 32) with the AR ANG 188 WGH WG, National Guard. The role involves piloting advanced military aircraft on assigned missions, ensuring safe and efficient flight operations, and contributing to various administrative tasks within Air Operations. National Guard membership is a requirement for this exceptional role.
Requirements

National Guard membership is required.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.

Minimum Military Grade: O-2/1LT

Maximum Military Grade: O-5/LTC
-
Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
-
A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.
-
Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment (if applicable).

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience:
-
Assisting the pilot in aircraft operations by determining, planning, and performing the navigational aspects of the flight.
-
Knowledge of various methods of air navigation.
-
Skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems in conjunction with flight instruments to direct aircraft movement.
-
Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance use and deployment, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and coordination with the pilot.
-
Knowledge of weapon ballistics and skill to operate related avionics systems for fighter aircraft.
-
Providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience:
-
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining information on mission type, weather, and intelligence data, and special instructions.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.
-
Experience providing a knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.
-
Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.
-
Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course.

Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency and competency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time which includes 200 hours' time in the C-130).
About the Duties
Core Flying Duties:
-
Pilots advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical/non-tactical assigned missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids.

Flies within established flight parameters to execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.

Maintains thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions.

Maintains mission qualifications in the assigned airplane.

Prepares for flight by reviewing weather, planning routes, verifying aircraft readiness, briefing crew, and obtaining necessary clearances.

Operates the airplane with the utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals, communicating with ground units, monitoring aircraft performance, and taking corrective action.

Accomplishes post-flight activities including maintaining logs and forms, writing flight reports, coordinating with maintenance, and conducting post-flight checks.

Serves as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties, responsible for safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
