The Arkansas Air National Guard seeks an experienced Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join their team at the 188th Wing, located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This position involves piloting advanced military aircraft on various assigned missions, requiring expertise in instrument flight techniques and a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems and procedures.
About the Role

Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft.

Execute tactical and non-tactical missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids.

Maintain adherence to flight parameters, execute standard maneuvers in all weather conditions, and operate from various landing areas domestically and internationally.

Ensure thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, procedures, and mission qualifications.

Perform pre-flight preparations, including weather assessment, flight planning, aircraft checks, passenger briefings, and obtaining necessary clearances.

Operate aircraft with the utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground units, monitoring aircraft performance, and employing emergency procedures when necessary.

Conduct post-flight activities, including maintaining logs and forms, writing flight reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties, responsible for mission safety and efficiency.

Potentially rotate to administrative tasks within Air Operations program support areas such as Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspections.
Requirements

Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.

Minimum Military Grade: O-2/1st Lieutenant

Maximum Military Grade: O-5/Lieutenant Colonel

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act.

Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.

A pre-placement physical may be required.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment, if applicable.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience
-
Positions responsible for assisting pilots in aircraft operations by determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of flights.

Knowledge of various air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems.

Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance use and deployment, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and coordination with the pilot.

Knowledge of weapon ballistics and skill in operating related avionics systems for fighter aircraft.

Experience providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience
-
At least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data, and special instructions.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.

Experience providing knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.

Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.
-
Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight and projecting course balance.

Ability to train, evaluate, and certify the proficiency and competency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe.
