An Airplane Pilot (Title 32) position is available within the AR ANG 188 WGH WG at the National Guard in [Location Not Specified]. This role involves piloting advanced military aircraft for assigned missions.
About the Role

Pilots advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical assigned missions.

Utilizes advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids, maintaining safe flight parameters in all weather conditions.

Maintains comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions, ensuring mission qualifications are met.

Prepares for flights by analyzing weather, planning routes, checking aircraft readiness, briefing crew and passengers, and obtaining necessary clearances.

Operates aircraft with utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground units, monitoring performance, and taking corrective action as needed.

Accomplishes post-flight activities including maintaining logs and forms, writing flight reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serves as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties, responsible for safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Requirements

National Guard membership is required.

Must be eligible for compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement.

Minimum Military Grade: O-2/1LT.

Maximum Military Grade: O-5/LTC.

Compatible Military Assignments: Must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.

National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation must be possessed or initiated.

A pre-placement physical is required if not already current.

Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment, if applicable.

Must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act.

Federal employment suitability determined by a background investigation is required.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.

Ability to obtain Instructor Pilot upgrade within 36 months.
Qualifications
General Experience
-
Positions require assisting the pilot in aircraft operations, determining, planning, and performing navigational aspects of flights.

Requires knowledge of various air navigation methods and skill in using navigational instruments, equipment, and systems in conjunction with flight instruments.

Some positions may require knowledge of fighter aircraft ordnance use and deployment, preflight checks, malfunction recognition, and coordination with the pilot.

Knowledge of weapon ballistics and skill in operating related avionics systems for fighter aircraft may be required.

Includes positions responsible for providing ground and flight instruction in air navigation.
Specialized Experience

Desired to have at least 36 months of experience, education, or training involving obtaining mission, weather, and intelligence data, and special instructions.

Experience preparing navigation flight plans.

Experience providing knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems.

Validated ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment.

Experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions.

Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course.

Ability to train, evaluate, and certify proficiency and competency of lower-graded personnel.

Validated completion of the necessary hours required for applicants' current airframe (e.g., 1000 hours total navigation time including 200 hours in the C-130).
