About the Role
This exceptional Title 32 National Guard position seeks a skilled Airplane Pilot for the MI 191st OSS within the MI 127 Wing, Michigan Air National Guard. The primary responsibility of this role is to pilot unit-equipped aircraft, while also performing administrative duties that support the Air Operations program. This is an integral role contributing to the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Air National Guard.
Duties and Responsibilities

Piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, for tactical and non-tactical missions.

Executing flights using precision instrument techniques and air navigational aids in all weather conditions, adhering strictly to flight parameters.

Conducting comprehensive pre-flight preparations, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and crew briefings.

Ensuring utmost safety during all flight operations by adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground units, and monitoring aircraft performance.

Performing post-flight activities, such as maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serving as the Air Commander's representative when acting as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Requirements

MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Applicants must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard.

This is an excepted service position requiring compatible military assignment.

Selectees will be required to wear the military uniform.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

Must possess a valid civilian driver's license.
Qualifications

Military grade of O2-O4 is required.
-
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.

At least two years of specialized experience in civilian aviation programs, military aviation programs (active duty or reserve), or in an Army National Guard Aviation Support facility or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.

Demonstrated experience in piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Proficiency in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.

Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing flight plans, and conducting crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Experience in operating aircraft controls and equipment.

Experience in performing or supervising work procedures in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Experience in conducting or supervising crew member training on mission-specific tasks.

Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.

Familiarity with flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.

Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs.

Experience in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs, adhering to Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and OSHA directives.

Experience in one or more missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, or surface attack.

Proficiency in traditional "stick and rudder" controls and using aircraft instrumentation and video cameras.

Experience with visual flight rules (VFR) and instrument flight rules (IFR) flying.

Experience in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights within FAA-controlled airspace.

Experience in applying operational directives and standard operating procedures.

Experience in planning and performing work assignments independently.

Experience in utilizing Operational Risk Management for safe and efficient mission accomplishment.

Experience with applicable Army aviation regulations, policies, requirements, and standards.

Experience in standardization and evaluation programs, ground examinations, and aircrew performance standards.

Experience with weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.

Experience with wartime and peacetime contingency plans for unit mobilizations and deployments.
Education
Eligibility is based on the possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications and ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, along with required competencies.
