About the Role
The Michigan Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot to join their team at the MI 191st OSS, part of the MI 127 Wing. This Title 32 National Guard position requires military membership and involves piloting a unit-equipped airplane, performing administrative tasks supporting air operations, and ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Responsibilities

Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military airplanes and high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions.

Utilize advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigation aids.

Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions, both domestically and internationally.

Prepare for flights by analyzing weather information, planning routes, and verifying aircraft readiness.

Brief passengers and crew on flight purposes and emergency procedures.

Obtain necessary flight clearances.

Operate aircraft with utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals and coordinating with ground units.

Monitor aircraft performance and flight progress, taking corrective action as needed.

Perform post-flight activities including maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance.

Serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying duties.
Requirements

MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard.

Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Must have a valid civilian driver's license.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications
-
Possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates -OR- appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.

Military grade requirement: O2-O4.
-
At least two years of experience in civilian aviation programs, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components), Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities, or Air National Guard Wings/Operations Groups.

Experience piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Experience in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.

Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing of flight plans, and conducting crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Experience in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
-
Experience in performing or supervising work procedures related to navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Experience in conducting or supervising crew member training on simple to complex mission-specific tasks.

Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.

Experience in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.

Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs.

Experience in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration directives.

Experience in one or more missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, mortar-to-arm escort, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface attack, killer-scout, target illumination, or laser targeting.

Experience in traditional "stick and rudder" type controls for piloting aircraft direction, altitude, and speed.

Experience in using aircraft instrumentation and aircraft-mounted video cameras.

Experience in visual flight rule type flying and aircraft instrument flying.

Experience in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration controlled national airspace.

Experience in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through the use of Operational Risk Management.

Experience performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, approving specific activities, coordinating for airport or airspace utilization with FAA, or directing emergency actions.

Experience in planning and preparing for missions and must have at least two years of experience in piloting or instructing others in piloting specific air-frame/military aircraft.
Education
