The Michigan Air National Guard seeks a qualified Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 National Guard position based at the MI 127 Wing in Michigan. This role involves piloting unit-equipped aircraft and performing administrative tasks to support the Air Operations program.
About the Role
This position is responsible for piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter jets, on tactical and non-tactical missions. Duties encompass executing precision instrument flight techniques, adhering to flight parameters in various weather conditions, and managing both domestic and foreign point-to-point flights. The role requires comprehensive flight preparation, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and passenger/crew briefings. Operational responsibilities include safe aircraft operation, communication with ground units, performance monitoring, and implementing emergency procedures. Post-flight activities involve maintaining logs and forms, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance. The Airplane Pilot will also serve as the Air Commander's representative when acting as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.

Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard in the specified military grade.

Qualifications

Military Grade: O2-O4.

General Experience: Possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and required competencies.

Specialized Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in civilian aviation programs; military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or within an Army National Guard Aviation Support facility or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.

Experience piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Experience in training and instructing others in the piloting of a specified main-frame military aircraft.

Experience in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.

Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing of flight plans, and conducting crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Experience in operating aircraft controls and equipment.

Experience in performing or supervising work procedures involving navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Experience in traditional "stick and rudder" controls for piloting aircraft.

Experience in visual flight rule (VFR) and instrument flight rule (IFR) flying.

Experience in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration controlled national airspace.

Experience in conducting particular missions and flying specific main-frame aircraft in combat tactics, flying in mountainous terrain, performing tactical remote site evaluations, performing landings on remote sites, providing ground and flight training, and conducting night-vision operations or instructions.
