The Michigan Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (MI 191st OSS) to serve within the MI 127 Wing at the unit level. This Title 32, excepted service position requires active membership in the Michigan Air National Guard and involves piloting advanced military aircraft while performing administrative duties supporting the Air Operations program.

About the Role

The Airplane Pilot is responsible for operating advanced single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, on tactical and non-tactical missions. This role utilizes precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids in all weather conditions. Key duties include comprehensive flight preparation, including weather assessment and flight planning; safe aircraft operation adhering to established flight parameters and communication protocols; and diligent post-flight activities such as maintaining logs and coordinating with maintenance personnel. Additionally, the pilot may serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying duties, ensuring efficient and safe mission accomplishment.

Qualifications

Eligibility for this Dual Status technician position is based on possessing Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and ratings in the relevant military aircraft. Applicants must demonstrate competencies through their experience.

General Experience

Eligibility requirements are met by possessing Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and required competencies.

Specialized Experience

At least two years of relevant experience in civilian aviation programs, military aviation programs (active duty or reserve), Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities, or Air National Guard Wings/Operations Groups. Experience should include:
