About the Role
The Michigan Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 National Guard position at the MI 191st OSS, located within the MI 127 Wing in Michigan. This role is integral to the Air Operations program, involving piloting a unit-equipped airplane and performing administrative duties to support aviation operations.
Responsibilities

Piloting advanced single or multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using advanced instrument flight techniques and navigational aids.

Executing flights within established parameters in all weather conditions, from point-to-point domestically and internationally.

Conducting comprehensive pre-flight preparations, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and crew briefings.

Operating aircraft with a focus on safety, adhering to flight manuals, coordinating with ground control, and monitoring flight progress.

Performing post-flight activities such as maintaining aircraft logs, writing flight reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serving as the Air Commander's representative when fulfilling Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties.
Requirements

MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard in the specified military grade.

Must be willing to wear the military uniform.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Must possess a valid civilian driver's license.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications
-
Military Grade: O2-O4.

Eligibility based on possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications and ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.

At least two years of relevant experience in civilian aviation programs, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components), or within Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities or Air National Guard Wings/Operations Groups.

Demonstrated experience in piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Experience in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.

Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, flight plan filing, and crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Experience in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
-
Experience in performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Experience in conducting or supervising crew member training on mission-specific tasks.

Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.

Experience in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.

Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs.

Experience in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.

Experience in one or more missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, or surface attack.

Experience in visual flight rules (VFR) and instrument flight rules (IFR) flying.

Experience in planning and conducting training flights in Federal Aviation Administration controlled airspace.

Experience in using applicable Army aviation regulations, policies, requirements, and standards, or equivalent Air Force directives.

Experience in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards.
