About the Role
The Michigan Air National Guard is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 Excepted Service position within the MI 127 Wing, Operations Group. This role is responsible for piloting a unit-equipped military airplane, executing tactical and non-tactical missions, and performing administrative tasks in support of the Air Operations program. The position is located at a flying unit within the Air National Guard Aviation Wing.

Requirements

MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Applicants must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard in the military grade of O2-O4.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Must possess a valid civilian driver's license.

Must successfully complete a background investigation.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Will be required to wear the military uniform.

May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
Qualifications
-
Eligibility requires possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.

Must possess required competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities).

At least two years of specialized experience is required, demonstrated through civilian or military aviation programs, or service within an Army National Guard Aviation Support Facility or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.

Experience must include piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Experience in mission planning, pre-flight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Proficiency in operating aircraft controls and equipment, and performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Experience in conducting or supervising crew member training on simple to complex mission-specific tasks.

Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.

Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.

Experience with aviation unit quality control management programs, flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.

Experience in one or more missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, or surface attack.

Experience with visual flight rules (VFR) and instrument flight rules (IFR) flying.

Experience in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration controlled national airspace.

Experience in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through Operational Risk Management.

Experience performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, or directing emergency actions.

Experience with weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.

Experience with wartime and peacetime contingency plans for unit mobilizations and deployments.
