The Michigan Air National Guard is seeking a skilled Airplane Pilot for a Title 32 National Guard position at the 127 Wing, Operations Group in Michigan. This role involves piloting unit-equipped aircraft, performing administrative tasks in support of air operations, and maintaining high standards of flight safety and mission accomplishment.
About the Role
This position is located within an Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Operations Group at a flying unit. The primary responsibility is to pilot a unit-equipped military aircraft. In addition to flight duties, the role includes administrative tasks that support the Air Operations program. Key duties involve piloting advanced single or multi-engine military aircraft, conducting tactical and non-tactical missions, and utilizing precision instrument flight techniques. Pre-flight and post-flight activities, including weather analysis, flight planning, aircraft checks, and log maintenance, are integral to the position. The incumbent will also serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying duties.

MICHIGAN AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Air National Guard in the specified military grade (O2-O4).

Must be able to wear the military uniform.

Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.

Must successfully complete a background investigation for Federal employment suitability.

May be required to complete a trial period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must possess a valid civilian driver's license.
Qualifications

Eligibility requires possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.

Must possess the required competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities).

At least two years of experience in civilian aviation programs; military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or aviation support facilities within the Army National Guard or Air National Guard.

Experience in piloting and instructing pilot skills in one or more of the following: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).

Demonstrated experience in mission planning, pre-flight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Proficiency in operating aircraft controls and equipment, and performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.

Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.

Experience in aviation unit quality control management, flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.

Familiarity with various missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, and surface attack.

Experience with traditional "stick and rudder" controls, aircraft instrumentation, and aircraft-mounted video cameras.

Proficiency in visual flight rules (VFR) and instrument flight rules (IFR) flying.

Experience in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights in Federal Aviation Administration controlled airspace.

Experience working independently to plan and perform work assignments.

Experience utilizing Operational Risk Management for safe and efficient mission accomplishment.

Experience in aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, and directing emergency actions.

Experience with relevant Army aviation regulations, policies, requirements, and standards, and the application of instructional techniques.

Experience in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards.

Experience reviewing and complying with applicable service flight publications and directives.

Experience with weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.

Familiarity with wartime and peacetime contingency plans for unit mobilizations, deployments, and troop missions.
