A pilot position is available with the Air National Guard at an Airlift Support Detachment within the Air Operations program. About the Role
The selected candidate will pilot advanced, heavy, multi-engine military aircraft on assigned airlift missions, transporting personnel and equipment domestically and internationally. Responsibilities include comprehensive flight preparation, including weather analysis, route planning, and aircraft readiness checks. The role requires safe operation of the aircraft, adherence to flight manuals, and coordination with ground units. Post-flight duties involve maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance. This position may also involve administrative tasks within Air Operations support functions such as training and scheduling, planning, safety management, and Inspector General duties.

Successful completion of a probationary period may be required.

Documented record of successful completion of F-15 Initial Qualification Training (IQT) is mandatory. Training certificates or military documentation must be provided at the time of application.

Must be a member of the Louisiana National Guard to be considered.

Qualifications

Eligibility requirements for Dual Status technician positions, including Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and ratings in the main frame military aircraft of employment.

At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or at least thirty-six months of experience in:

Aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.

Operating aircraft controls and equipment.
-
Performing or supervising work procedures in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, surveillance, or reconnaissance.

Conducting or supervising crew member training on simple to complex mission-specific tasks.
-
Developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
-
Flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.
-
Planning and preparing for missions.
-
At least two years of experience in piloting or instructing others in piloting specific airframe/military aircraft.

Various piloting administrative tasks in support of Air National Guard aviation programs.

Aviation unit quality control management programs.

Unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration directives.

Applying directives, regulations, accident reports, safety data, and local operating conditions to determine unit safety program requirements.

Flying operations and coordinating with appropriate agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and programs.

Experience in one or more missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, mortar-to-arm escort, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface attack, killer scout, target illumination, or laser targeting.

Traditional "stick and rudder" controls for piloting aircraft direction, altitude, and speed.

Using aircraft instrumentation and aircraft-mounted video cameras.

Visual flight rule (VFR) and instrument flight rule (IFR) flying.

Flying simulated "real world" combat and non-combat missions and terrain.

Planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration controlled national airspace.
Education

An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory.

A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or an equivalent professional military education school is optimum.

Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
