The Kentucky National Guard seeks a qualified Airplane Pilot - Title 32, GS-2181-13, to operate aircraft on assigned missions from their 123 AW facility. This role requires advanced precision instrument flight techniques and comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems to ensure safe and efficient flight operations under all weather conditions.
About the Role

Pilot assigned aircraft on missions utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques.

Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.

Maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures.

Prepare for flights by reviewing weather, planning routes, verifying maintenance, and conducting pre-flight checks.

Operate aircraft with utmost safety and perform post-flight activities including log maintenance and flight reports.

Serve as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for mission accomplishment.

Design and coordinate comprehensive aircrew training plans and scenarios.

Establish training goals and objectives for instrument flight and general aircraft operation.

Analyze debriefings to ensure training event accomplishment.

Plan, develop, and implement the unit flying schedule, coordinating with relevant agencies.
Requirements

Must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.

Must be assigned to a compatible military position.

Must adhere to military uniform wear.

Position may require a pre-employment physical.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.

Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. Conviction of a qualifying domestic violence crime prohibits performance of duties.

Qualifications

Must possess an appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate OR possess aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.

Must be C130J qualified.

Must have at least 24 months of experience operating a fixed-wing military aircraft, including mission planning and preparation.

Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information.

Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft pre-flight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.

Experience conducting/supervising training of crew members in simple to complex mission-specific tasks.

Required knowledge in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.
