This position is for a Title 32 Airplane Pilot, GS-2181-13, with the KY 123 AW of the National Guard, located in Kentucky. The selected candidate will pilot aircraft on assigned missions, ensuring safe and efficient operation within established parameters and in all weather conditions.
About the Role

Pilot assigned aircraft on missions utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, procedures, and mission qualifications.

Conduct thorough flight preparation, including weather review, route planning, fuel computation, and preflight checks.

Operate aircraft with the highest degree of safety.

Perform post-flight activities such as maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Air Commander's representative when performing Supervisor of Flying duties.

Design and coordinate comprehensive training plans and scenarios for aircrew technical training.

Implement policies to ensure accomplishment of required training and establish training goals for instrument flight and general aircraft operation.

Analyze post-mission debriefings to ensure training objectives are met.

Plan, develop, and implement unit flying schedules, coordinating operational requirements with relevant divisions and agencies.

Must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.

Position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Must possess an appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate OR have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.

Must be C130J qualified.

Must have at least 24 months of experience operating a fixed-wing military aircraft, including mission planning and preparation.

Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information.

Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.

Experience conducting or supervising training of crew members in simple to complex mission-specific tasks.

Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures is required.
