Job Summary

The Kentucky National Guard is seeking an experienced Airplane Pilot - Title 32, GS-2181-13, for its 123 AW unit in Kentucky. This role involves piloting assigned aircraft on missions using advanced instrument flight techniques, ensuring the utmost safety and operational efficiency. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, flight parameters, and mission planning.

About the Role

As an Airplane Pilot - Title 32, incumbents will pilot aircraft on assigned missions, adhering to precise instrument flight techniques and executing standard maneuvers in all weather conditions. Key responsibilities include maintaining in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures, ensuring mission qualifications, and preparing for flights by reviewing weather, planning routes, and conducting preflight checks. Post-flight activities involve maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel. The role also entails serving as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), responsible for safe mission accomplishment. Additionally, the pilot will design and coordinate comprehensive training plans and scenarios, establish training goals, and analyze debriefings to ensure training event completion. The position also involves planning and developing the unit's flying schedule and coordinating operational requirements with relevant agencies.

Requirements

Must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
Must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Must wear the military uniform.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Military Grades: O1 - O4.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Possess an appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate or aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
Must be C130J qualified.

Specialized Experience

At least 24 months of experience operating a fixed-wing military aircraft.
Experience in mission planning and preparation.
Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information.
Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.
Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.
Experience conducting/supervising training of crew members in simple to complex mission-specific tasks.
Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures is required.
