The Kentucky National Guard seeks a highly skilled Airplane Pilot - Title 32, GS-2181-13, to operate aircraft on assigned missions from their facility in Kentucky. This position requires extensive flight experience and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
About the Role
As an Airplane Pilot - Title 32, incumbents will pilot aircraft utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques. Key responsibilities include maintaining thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, executing normal flight procedures in all weather conditions, and preparing for flights by reviewing weather information, flight planning, and conducting preflight checks. Post-flight activities involve maintaining logs and forms, writing flight reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel. The role also includes serving as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), designing and coordinating training plans, establishing training goals, and developing the unit flying schedule. Coordination with the Aircraft Maintenance Division, FAA, and other agencies is also a critical function.

Must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.

Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Must possess an appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate OR have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.

Must be C130J qualified.

Minimum of 24 months of specialized experience operating a fixed-wing military aircraft, including mission planning and preparation.

Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information.

Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.

Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.

Experience conducting/supervising training of crew members in simple to complex mission-specific tasks.

Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures is required.
