About the Role

As an Airplane Pilot, the incumbent will be responsible for piloting aircraft on assigned missions, utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques and operating within all weather conditions. Key duties include maintaining comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, flight parameter adherence, mission qualification, and thorough flight preparation. This involves reviewing weather data, planning routes, verifying fuel requirements, conducting pre-flight checks, and briefing passengers and crew. Post-flight activities include maintaining aircraft logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel. The role also entails serving as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment. Additionally, the pilot will design and coordinate training plans, implement policies for aircrew training, establish training goals, and analyze debriefings to ensure training event completion. The position involves planning and developing the unit flying schedule and coordinating operational requirements with relevant agencies.

Requirements

• Military Grades: O1 - O4
• Must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
• Must be assigned to a compatible military position.
• Wear of the military uniform is required.
• Position may require a pre-employment physical.
• May be subject to furlough actions.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
• Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
• Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. Individuals convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• For male applicants born after 12/31/1959, registration under the Military Selective Service Act is required.

Qualifications

• Possess an appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate OR hold aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
• Must be C130J qualified.
• Must have at least 24 months of experience operating a fixed-wing military aircraft, including mission planning and preparation.
• Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information.
• Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.
• Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.
• Experience conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission-specific tasks.
• Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures is required.
• Resume must include complete dates, work schedules, and/or hours worked per week for all employment.
