About the Role

The Oklahoma Air National Guard is seeking a highly skilled Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the 138th Fighter Wing at their unit-level operations. This role involves piloting advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft on assigned missions, utilizing precise instrument flight techniques. In addition to flight duties, the pilot will contribute to the Air Operations program through administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

• Pilot military fighter aircraft using advanced instrument flight techniques in various weather conditions for tactical and non-tactical missions.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, procedures, and mission qualifications.
• Prepare for flights by analyzing weather, planning routes, filing flight plans, verifying aircraft readiness, and briefing crew.
• Operate aircraft with a strong emphasis on safety, adhering to flight manuals and communicating with ground control.
• Conduct post-flight activities including maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.
• Serve as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), representing the Air Commander and ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment, with authority to manage flying activities and direct emergency actions.
• Perform administrative tasks within the Air Operations program, potentially including Training and Scheduling, Plans development, Safety program management, or Inspector General functions.

Requirements

• National Guard membership is required.
• Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in a compatible military assignment.
• Must be willing to wear the military uniform.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation for federal employment suitability.
• May be required to complete a trial period.
• Mandatory participation in direct deposit.
• May be required to travel for conferences and meetings.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.
• May be required to work outside normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT) is mandatory.
• Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.
• Possession of a valid state driver’s license for operating government motor vehicles.
• Must qualify to operate government motor vehicles and vehicular equipment for maintenance purposes.
• Must possess the appropriate security clearance.
• May be required to serve up to a two-year probationary period upon accepting the position.

Qualifications

• Military Grades: O-1 through O-4.
• Mandatory Qualification Requirement: 11F AFSC.
• Eligibility requirements include appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.
• General Experience: Minimum of one year of on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level.
• Specialized Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components) or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.
• Experienced in piloting and instructing pilot skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).
• Proficient in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.
• Experienced in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, preparations, filing of flight plans, and crew briefings, including aircraft preflight inspections, loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.
• Experienced in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
• Experienced in performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, or reconnaissance.
• Experienced in conducting or supervising crew member training on mission-specific tasks.
• Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
• Experienced in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.
• Experienced in aviation unit quality control management programs.
• Experienced in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.
• Experienced in applying directives, regulations, accident reports, and safety data to determine unit safety program requirements.
• Experienced in flying operations and coordinating with relevant agencies for safety compliance.
• Experienced in various missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, surveillance, reconnaissance, and surface attack.
• Experienced in traditional "stick and rudder" controls, aircraft instrumentation, and aircraft-mounted video cameras.
• Experienced in visual flight rule (VFR) and instrument flying.
• Experienced in flying simulated combat and non-combat missions and terrain.
• Experienced in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through FAA-controlled airspace.
• Experienced in applying operational directives, training directives, and standard operating procedures.
• Experienced in working independently to plan and perform work assignments.
• Experienced in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through Operational Risk Management.
• Experienced in performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, and directing emergency actions.
• Experienced in conducting particular missions, flying specific main-frame aircraft in combat tactics, flying in mountainous terrain, performing tactical remote site evaluations, providing ground and flight training, and conducting night-vision operations.
• Experienced in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards.
• Experienced in reviewing and complying with applicable service flight publications and directives.
• Experienced with weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.
• Experienced with wartime and peacetime contingency plans for unit mobilizations, deployments, and redeployments.

Education

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory.
• A graduate degree from an accredited civilian academic college or equivalent professional military education is optimal.
• Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
