Air National Guard Units | Pilot

The Oklahoma Air National Guard is seeking a highly qualified Airplane Pilot (Title 32) to join the 138th Fighter Wing in Oklahoma. This role involves piloting advanced military aircraft and contributing to the Air Operations program through administrative tasks, training, planning, and safety initiatives.

About the Role

• Pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance military fighter aircraft, on assigned tactical and non-tactical missions.
• Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions, utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques and air navigational aids.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and procedures, including normal, instrument, and emergency conditions.
• Prepare for flights by analyzing weather, planning routes, verifying aircraft readiness, and briefing crew members.
• Operate aircraft with utmost safety, adhering to flight manuals, communicating with ground units, and monitoring flight progress.
• Perform post-flight activities, including maintaining logs, writing reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.
• Serve as the Air Commander's representative as Supervisor of Flying (SOF), overseeing safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
• Rotate to administrative tasks supporting the Air Operations program, including training and scheduling, planning, safety, and Inspector General functions.

Requirements

• Must be a member of the National Guard in a compatible military assignment.
• Must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the required military grade.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must successfully complete a background investigation for Federal employment suitability.
• May be required to complete a trial period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• May be required to travel by military or commercial air.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.
• May be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license for the state of residence or principal employment.
• Must qualify to operate government motor vehicles and vehicular equipment for maintenance purposes.
• Must have the appropriate security clearance.
• May be required to serve up to a two-year probationary period.

Qualifications

• Graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
• Maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.
• Military Grades: O-1 through O-4.
• Mandatory Qualification Requirement: 11F AFSC.
• Possess appropriate military certifications and military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment.
• General Experience: Minimum of one year of on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level.
• Specialized Experience: At least two years of working experience in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components) or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group.
• Experienced in piloting and instructing pilot skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).
• Competence includes the ability to train and instruct others in piloting specified main-frame military aircraft.
• Experienced in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information.
• Experienced in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, preparations, filing flight plans, and conducting crew briefings.
• Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, equipment assessments, and mission manning.
• Experienced in operating aircraft controls and equipment.
• Experienced in performing or supervising navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations, surveillance, or reconnaissance.
• Experienced in conducting or supervising crew member training.
• Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders.
• Experienced in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, aircraft operating procedures, and mission tactics.
• Experienced in planning and preparing for missions.
• Experienced in various piloting administrative tasks in support of Air National Guard aviation programs.
• Experienced in aviation unit quality control management programs.
• Experienced in unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs.
• Experienced in applying directives, regulations, accident reports, and safety data.
• Experienced in flying operations and coordinating with appropriate agencies to ensure safety compliance.
• Experienced in missions such as air-to-air, air-to-ground, escort, surveillance, reconnaissance, surface attack, target illumination, or laser targeting.
• Experienced in traditional "stick and rudder" controls for piloting aircraft.
• Experienced in using aircraft instrumentation and aircraft-mounted video cameras.
• Experienced in visual flight rule (VFR) and instrument flight rule (IFR) flying.
• Experienced in flying simulated combat and non-combat missions and terrain.
• Experienced in planning, scheduling, and conducting training flights through Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) controlled airspace.
• Experienced in applying operational directives, training directives, and standard operating procedures.
• Experienced in working independently to plan and perform work assignments.
• Experienced in completing safe and efficient mission accomplishments through Operational Risk Management.
• Experienced performing aviation duties such as cancelling flying activities, diverting aircraft, dictating mission requirements, approving specific activities, coordinating for airport or airspace utilization with FAA, or directing emergency actions.
• Experienced in conducting particular missions and flying specific main-frame aircraft in combat tactics, flying in mountainous terrain, performing tactical remote site evaluations, performing landings on remote sites, providing ground and flight training, and conducting night-vision operations or instructions.
• Experienced in standardization and evaluation programs, written ground examinations, emergency procedures, and aircrew performance standards.
• Experienced in reviewing and complying with applicable service flight publications and directives for accuracy and currency.
• Experienced with weaponry and combat or non-combat tactics for applicable military aircraft.
• Experienced with wartime and peacetime contingency plans for unit mobilizations, deployments, and redeployments.
• An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is mandatory.
• A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or equivalent professional military education school is optimum.
• Must have Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
