Job Summary

The Wyoming Air National Guard invites applications for the position of Airplane Pilot (Position Description: PDD0253P02) within the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. The primary mission is to pilot C-130 aircraft and provide administrative support for the Air Operations program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pilot advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.
  • Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements, and pre-flight inspections.
  • Ensure safe operation of the aircraft, adherence to flight manuals, and effective communication with ground control.
  • Perform post-flight activities, including log maintenance, flight reporting, and debriefing with maintenance personnel.
  • Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties.
  • Support administrative requirements for the Air Operations program.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Training: Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
  • Specialized Experience: Minimum of 24 months of experience in military or civilian aviation programs, including 24 months of specific experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft. This includes proficiency in mission planning, safety program management, and operational risk management.
  • Certifications: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications/ratings in the C-130H.
  • Military Requirements: Must possess AFSC 11M (C-130 Mobility Pilot). Current military status in the Air Force, Air Force Reserves, or Air National Guard is required. Must be willing to join the Wyoming Air National Guard prior to appointment.
  • Medical/Physical: Must maintain USAF military pilot medical standards and possess a valid driver’s license.

Conditions of Employment

  • Applicants must be active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, or current Air National Guard members.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.
  • Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel by military or commercial air may be required.
  • A two-year trial period may be required.
  • Acceptance of this position terminates certain military incentives, including Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
  • Position is subject to federal background investigation.
  • Relocation expenses are not authorized.

Area of Consideration

This position is open to current permanent and indefinite Wyoming Air National Guard T32 Dual Status technicians, current Wyoming Air National Guard military members, and current military service members (USAF, AF Reserves, or other ANG units) eligible to transfer to the Wyoming Air National Guard.
