Job Summary

The Wyoming Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Position Description Number PDD0253P02) for the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this role is to pilot the C-130 aircraft and provide administrative support for the Air Operations program.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Pilot advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.
• Perform comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route navigation, fuel requirements, and pre-flight inspections.
• Ensure crew and passenger safety through detailed briefings and emergency procedure protocols.
• Execute flight operations while adhering to safety parameters, communicating with ground control, and monitoring aircraft performance.
• Complete post-flight activities, including log maintenance, reporting, and coordination with maintenance personnel.
• Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when performing duties as Supervisor of Flying (SOF).

Qualifications and Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Must be a current member of the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or an Air National Guard unit, or be willing to join the Wyoming Air National Guard prior to appointment.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must be a graduate of USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
• Must possess AFSC 11M, C-130 Mobility Pilot qualification.
• Maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.
• Must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Possess Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and ratings in the C-130H.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Specialized Experience (GS-13)

Applicants must demonstrate at least 24 months of experience in military or civilian aviation programs, including 24 months of experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft. This experience must include proficiency in unit operations, safety programs, mission planning, and federal airspace management.

Conditions of Employment

• Military affiliation is required; position appointment is contingent upon becoming a military member of the Wyoming Air National Guard.
• Selected candidates must serve in a compatible military grade (O-2/1Lt to O-5/Lt Col).
• Work may require travel and performance of duties outside of standard business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
• Federal employment suitability is subject to a background investigation.
• Acceptance of this position may terminate specific military incentives, including SRIP and TRICARE Reserve Select.
• Relocation expenses are the responsibility of the selected candidate.
