Job Title: Airplane Pilot (C-130)
Position Summary:
The Wyoming Air National Guard invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Airplane Pilot (Position Description: PDD0253P02) within the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. The incumbent serves as a pilot for C-130 aircraft and performs essential administrative functions in support of the Air Operations program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Piloting advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing precision instrument flight techniques and navigational aids.

Conducting comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.

Performing rigorous pre-flight inspections, ensuring proper aircraft loading and weight distribution, and briefing crew members on emergency procedures.

Maintaining operational safety by adhering to flight manual parameters, coordinating with ground control, and executing corrective actions during emergencies.

Executing post-flight activities, including logbook maintenance, report writing, and coordinating aircraft service conditions with maintenance personnel.

Serving as the Air Commander’s representative in the capacity of Supervisor of Flying (SOF) to ensure safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Mandatory Qualifications

Education:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required. A graduate degree from an accredited institution or professional military education school is preferred.

Aviation Certification:
Possession of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications/ratings in the C-130H.

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Military Compatibility:
Must hold AFSC 11M (C-130 Mobility Pilot) and be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Air National Guard. Military grade requirements: O-2/1Lt to O-5/Lt Col.

Specialized Experience:
Minimum of 24 months of experience in aviation programs (civilian or military) and 24 months of experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft. This includes demonstrated proficiency in mission planning, safety program management, and operational risk management.
Conditions of Employment

Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.

Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Required to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Successful completion of a two-year trial period may be required.

Eligibility for federal employment is contingent upon a background investigation.

Acceptance of this position terminates certain military incentives, including SRIP and TRICARE Reserve Select.

Must be a current member of the Air Force, Air Force Reserves, or Air National Guard to be considered.
