Job Title: Airplane Pilot (National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service)
Position Summary:
The Montana Air National Guard, 120 OSS, is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Position Description D0253P02). This is a Title 32 Excepted Service, non-bargaining unit position. Candidates must be committed to the mission of the Air National Guard and the ideals of the United States Constitution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Operates advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft and high-performance fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.

Executes normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers across all weather conditions and environments.

Conducts comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements, weight distribution, and crew briefings.

Ensures flight safety by adhering to manual parameters, coordinating with ground control, and monitoring aircraft performance.

Completes post-flight documentation, including logs, reports, and maintenance coordination.

Serves as the Air Commander’s representative when performing duties as Supervisor of Flying (SOF).

Rotates into administrative support roles, including Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspector General functions.

Independently plans and performs work assignments in accordance with NGB and USAF directives.
Candidate Qualifications

Military Membership:
Must be a member of the Montana Air National Guard or eligible for immediate membership and military service.

Military Grade:
O4/Maj or O5/Lt Col.

Education:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Flight Training:
Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certifications:
Must hold FAA certifications from an accredited civilian program OR aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school.

Specialized Experience:
Minimum of two years of aviation experience in civilian, active duty, reserve, or National Guard programs. Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or able to qualify within six months of hire.

Medical:
Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.

Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.

Must successfully complete a background investigation and potential probationary period.

Work may require travel and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
