Position Overview
This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service position located at the Oklahoma Air National Guard, 138th Fighter Wing (Position Description Number: D0253P02). The primary purpose of this role is to serve as an Airplane Pilot for unit-equipped aircraft, performing both flight operations and administrative duties in support of the Air Operations program.
Key Responsibilities

Pilot advanced single or multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.

Maintain mission qualifications and thorough knowledge of aircraft systems under normal and emergency conditions.

Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route determination, fuel requirements, and weight distribution.

Ensure safe operation of the aircraft, including coordination with ground units and adherence to flight manual parameters.

Execute post-flight activities, including documentation, reporting, and coordination with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), representing the Air Commander with authority to manage mission accomplishment, airspace utilization, and emergency actions.

Perform administrative duties within functional areas, including Training and Scheduling, Operational Planning, Safety Program management, and Inspector General support.
Qualifications and Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications

Current membership in the National Guard is required.

Military Grades: O-1 through O-4.

Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Possession of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.

Possession of FAA pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and ratings in the relevant mainframe aircraft.

Must meet and maintain the medical standards required of USAF military pilots.

Valid state driver’s license and ability to qualify for government vehicle operation.

Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
Specialized Experience
Candidates must possess at least two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs. This includes demonstrated competency in:

Piloting and instructing pilot skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft.

Mission planning, crew briefing, and aircraft preflight/loading operations.

Applying operational directives, aviation regulations, and safety program requirements (OSHA/Air Force directives).

Development of training plans, wartime/peacetime contingency planning, and quality control management.
Conditions of Employment

Requires maintenance of a compatible military assignment in the Oklahoma Air National Guard.

Must wear the military uniform.

Must register for Selective Service (if born after 31 December 1959).

Subject to federal background investigations and potential trial or probationary periods.

Must participate in mandatory direct deposit.

Occasional travel by military or commercial air may be required.

Must be available for work outside of normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
