Position Summary

The Wyoming Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot for the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This position is responsible for piloting C-130 aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques. Beyond flight operations, the incumbent will perform critical administrative tasks in support of the Air Operations program and serve as the Air Commander’s representative when acting as Supervisor of Flying (SOF).

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate advanced multi-engine military aircraft, ensuring adherence to safety parameters and flight manual procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive mission planning, including weather analysis, route determination, fuel requirements, and flight plan filing.
  • Perform pre-flight inspections, including weight and balance verification, and brief crew/passengers on emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate with ground units and controlling activities during flight operations and execute corrective or emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Manage post-flight activities, including logbook maintenance, flight reporting, and coordination with maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure safe and efficient mission accomplishment as the Supervisor of Flying.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Education: An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Training: Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
  • Certifications: Possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications and ratings in the C-130H.
  • Experience: A minimum of 24 months of working experience in aviation programs (civilian or military) and at least 24 months of experience piloting or instructing C-130 aircraft.
  • Military Requirement: Must possess AFSC 11M, C-130 Mobility Pilot. Must be or become a member of the Wyoming Air National Guard.
  • Medical/Physical: Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Security: Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Conditions of Employment

  • This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician position; military affiliation is mandatory.
  • Open to current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard members.
  • Candidates must be within the military grade of O-2/1Lt to O-5/Lt Col.
  • Work schedule is typically Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm; however, flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
  • Travel by military or commercial air may be required.
  • May be subject to a two-year trial period and federal background investigation.
  • Acceptance of this position terminates certain military incentives and benefits, including SRIP and TRICARE Reserve Select.
