Role Overview
The Montana Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot to join the 120 OSS. The incumbent will pilot advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, across tactical and non-tactical missions. This role involves utilizing precision instrument flight techniques, adhering to rigorous safety and flight parameters, and ensuring the efficient accomplishment of unit missions. The position includes rotational administrative responsibilities in functional areas such as Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspector General support.
Key Responsibilities

Execute standard and advanced flight maneuvers under all weather conditions, ensuring compliance with flight manual parameters.

Conduct comprehensive pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, weight distribution checks, and crew briefings.

Manage post-flight requirements, including maintenance coordination, logbook documentation, and flight reporting.

Serve as the Air Commander’s representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties.

Develop and implement unit training plans, wartime and peacetime contingency plans, and organizational safety programs.

Provide technical expertise regarding Air Force inspection systems, complaints resolution, and compliance programs.
Minimum Requirements

Military Membership:
Must be a member of the Montana Air National Guard or eligible for immediate enlistment/appointment.

Education:
Must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Flight Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certification:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications from an accredited civilian program OR aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of specialized experience in military or civilian aviation programs. Must demonstrate competence in aircraft operation, mission planning, and instructional techniques.

Rank Requirements:
O4/Maj - O5/Lt Col.

Qualification:
AFSC qualified in 11M3C or ability to qualify within six months of hire.

Medical:
Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.

Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.
Conditions of Employment

Must maintain active membership in the National Guard.

Required to wear the military uniform.

Must be registered for Selective Service (for males born after 31 December 1959).

Subject to background investigations for federal employment suitability.

Mandatory participation in direct deposit.

May require travel via military or commercial air and working non-standard hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
