This is an Air National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service position. The selected candidate will be responsible for piloting advanced, high-performance military aircraft and performing mission-critical operations for the Minnesota Air National Guard.
Position Overview
The Airplane Pilot performs tactical and non-tactical missions using advanced precision instrument flight techniques. The incumbent maintains comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions. Duties include flight planning, pre-flight verification, safe operation of aircraft, post-flight reporting, and serving as the Air Commander’s representative in the Supervisor of Flying (SOF) capacity.
In addition to flight operations, the incumbent may rotate into functional support areas, including:

Training and Scheduling:
Designing training scenarios and managing flying schedules.

Plans:
Developing wartime and peacetime contingency plans.

Safety:
Administering safety programs in accordance with Air Force, ANG, and OSHA directives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Mandatory Criteria

Membership:
Must be a member of the Minnesota Air National Guard or be eligible for immediate membership and employment.

Education:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certifications:
Must possess FAA certifications or equivalent military aviation school certifications.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs. Candidates must have experience in piloting fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft.

Medical:
Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Military Grade:
Officer (1st Lt/O2 – Lt Col/O5).
Conditions of Employment

Must maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota Air National Guard and a compatible military AFSC.

Must wear the military uniform.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.

Employment is subject to a federal background investigation to determine suitability for security clearance and DOD IT network access.

Subject to a two-year trial period.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
