Position Summary
The 148 OSS FT is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot to join the Air National Guard. This position involves piloting advanced, high-performance military fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions. The incumbent maintains mission qualifications, ensures the safety and efficiency of unit operations, and may serve as a Supervisor of Flying (SOF), acting as the Air Commander’s representative with the authority to manage flight activities and airspace utilization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Operate advanced single or multi-engine military aircraft using precision instrument flight techniques.

Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route determination, fuel requirements, and aircraft readiness verification.

Ensure the safety of all flight operations through adherence to manual parameters, effective communication, and prompt execution of emergency procedures.

Perform post-flight activities, including logging, reporting, and coordination with maintenance personnel.

Manage administrative functions within Air Operations program support, including Training and Scheduling, Operational Planning, and Safety program administration.

Design and implement training scenarios, develop contingency plans for deployment, and oversee unit safety initiatives in accordance with Air Force, ANG, and OSHA directives.
Requirements and Qualifications
Mandatory Eligibility

Must hold or be eligible for immediate membership in the Minnesota Air National Guard.

Must possess the ability to wear the military uniform.

Military grades: Officer 1st Lt/O2 - Lt Col/O5.

Must graduate from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.

Must hold Federal Aviation Administration certifications or aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.

Completion of a federal background investigation is required for suitability and security clearance.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Experience Requirements
Candidates must possess at least two years of working experience in civilian aviation, military service aviation (active duty or reserve), Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities, or Air National Guard Wing/Operations groups. Experience must demonstrate competency in piloting and instructing skills in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft. All qualifications will be evaluated according to 2025 MPP Air National Guard standards.
Employment Conditions
This is an excepted service position; continued employment is contingent upon maintaining a compatible military position within the Minnesota Air National Guard. The selected individual may be subject to a two-year trial period and may be required to complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. No Permanent Change of Station (PCS) assistance is available.
