Position Overview
The Wyoming Air National Guard invites applications for the position of Airplane Pilot (Position Description: PDD0253P02) within the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. The primary mission is to pilot C-130 aircraft and provide administrative support to the Air Operations program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Pilot advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing precision instrument flight techniques and navigational aids.

Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.

Perform pre-flight inspections, including weight and balance verification, maintenance status checks, and crew/passenger briefings.

Operate aircraft in compliance with flight manuals and safety parameters, including communication with ground control and execution of emergency procedures.

Manage post-flight requirements, such as maintaining aircraft logs, submitting reports, and coordinating with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Air Commander’s representative in the capacity of Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Mandatory Qualifications

Education:
A mandatory undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. A graduate degree is considered optimal.

Certifications:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications or equivalent military aviation certifications.

Training:
Must be a graduate of USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Military Requirements:
Must hold AFSC 11M (C-130 Mobility Pilot) and be a military member of the Wyoming Air National Guard (or willing to join prior to appointment). Military grade must be between O-2/1Lt and O-5/Lt Col.

Specialized Experience:
Minimum of 24 months of experience in civilian or military aviation programs, and at least 24 months of experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft, specifically regarding unit safety programs, mission planning, and federal airspace operations.

Licensure:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Applicants must be current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard members.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance for access to classified information.

Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Selected candidates may be subject to a two-year trial period.

Position requires primary physical presence; some travel may be required.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, with potential requirements for evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Federal employment suitability is determined via background investigation.

Acceptance of this position terminates certain military incentives, including SRIP and TRICARE Reserve Select.
