Position Summary
The incumbent serves as an Airplane Pilot for the Montana Air National Guard, 120 OSS, operating advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft and high-performance fighter aircraft. The pilot executes tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing advanced precision instrument flight techniques. The role involves comprehensive flight planning, pre-flight verification, safe operation of aircraft, and detailed post-flight reporting. The pilot acts as the Air Commander’s representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties, ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Operate high-performance military aircraft within flight parameters, executing standard maneuvers in all weather conditions.

Conduct mission planning, including route analysis, fuel requirements, weather assessment, and flight plan filing.

Ensure compliance with aircraft manuals, ground control coordination, and emergency procedures.

Perform administrative rotations, including functions in Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and the Inspector General office.

Manage unit-level programs, including the Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP), safety program administration, and wartime contingency planning.

Provide technical expertise and advisory support to wing personnel regarding Air Force policies, regulations, and inspection systems.
Qualifications

Education:
Must hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university (transcripts required).

Training:
Graduate of USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certification:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration certifications from an accredited civilian program OR aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in piloting specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, crew training, and unit program management.

Technical Requirements:
Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or capable of qualifying within six months of hire. Must maintain USAF military pilot medical standards.

National Guard membership is required for employment; applicants must be eligible for immediate membership in the Montana Air National Guard.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance for access to classified information.

Selectee must wear the prescribed military uniform.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

May require work outside normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Subject to travel via military or commercial air for official functions.
