Position Overview
This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service position located at the OK 138th Fighter Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard. The primary purpose of this role is to pilot unit-equipped (UE) aircraft while performing administrative duties in support of the Air Operations program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The selected pilot will operate advanced, single or multi-engine military fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions, utilizing precision instrument flight techniques. Responsibilities include:

Maintaining mission qualifications and thorough knowledge of aircraft systems under normal and emergency conditions.

Conducting comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route navigation, fuel management, and pre-flight inspections.

Ensuring passenger and crew safety through thorough briefings and adherence to established flight parameters.

Executing post-flight activities, including documentation, reporting, and maintenance coordination.

Serving as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), representing the Air Commander to ensure safe and efficient mission accomplishment.

Performing administrative and operational support functions in areas such as Training and Scheduling, Strategic Planning, Safety, and Inspector General programs.
Qualifications and Requirements
Mandatory Prerequisites

Must be a member of the National Guard (or eligible for immediate membership and employment in the required military grade).

Military Grades: O-1 through O-4.

Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Possess a valid state driver’s license and qualify to operate government motor vehicles.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

Maintain medical standards required for USAF military pilots.

Undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university.
Experience Requirements
Candidates must possess at least two years of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs (active duty, reserve, or National Guard). This experience must demonstrate:

Competence in piloting and instructing others in specific military aircraft.

Expertise in mission planning, navigation, meteorology, and flying directives.

Proficiency in unit safety programs (OSHA/Air Force directives), quality control, and operational risk management.

Ability to work independently and advise commanders on operational requirements.
Conditions of Employment

Acceptance of an excepted service position requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Oklahoma Air National Guard.

Selected candidates are required to wear the military uniform.

Must participate in direct deposit and may be subject to a probationary period.

Work may require travel and irregular duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
