Position Overview
The Wyoming Air National Guard invites applications for the position of Airplane Pilot (Position Description Number PDD0253P02) within the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. The primary mission of this role is to pilot the C-130 aircraft and provide administrative support for the Air Operations program.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Pilot advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.

Conduct comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.

Perform pre-flight inspections, verify aircraft weight and balance, and conduct crew briefings regarding safety and emergency procedures.

Operate aircraft in strict accordance with flight manuals, coordinate with ground control, and execute emergency procedures when necessary.

Complete post-flight requirements, including logbook maintenance, flight report submission, and coordination with maintenance personnel.

Serve as the Air Commander’s representative in the capacity of Supervisor of Flying (SOF), ensuring safe and efficient mission accomplishment.
Mandatory Qualifications

Education:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Training:
Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certification:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications/ratings in the C-130H.

Experience:
Minimum of 24 months of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs, including 24 months of experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft. This experience must encompass mission planning, unit safety program management, and operational risk management.

Military Requirements:
Must be a member of the Wyoming Air National Guard (or willing to join prior to appointment) and possess AFSC 11M (C-130 Mobility Pilot).

Medical/Security:
Must maintain USAF pilot medical standards and possess the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Documentation:
Applicants must provide detailed dates (MM/YYYY) and hours worked per week for all specialized experience.
Conditions of Employment

Open to current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard members.

Must maintain compatibility with military grade (O-2/1Lt to O-5/Lt Col).

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

May be subject to a two-year trial period and a background investigation.

Travel via military or commercial air may be required.

Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as mission requirements dictate.

Acceptance of this position may terminate specific military incentives, including SRIP and TRICARE Reserve Select.

This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. While the role requires a primary physical presence, situational telework may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
