Position Summary
This National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service position is located within the Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing, Operations Group. The primary responsibility is to pilot unit-equipped (UE) high-performance military aircraft. In addition to flight operations, the incumbent performs critical administrative and operational support tasks for the Air Operations program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Pilots advanced, single or multi-engine military fighter aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.

Maintains mission qualifications and thorough knowledge of aircraft systems under normal, instrument, and emergency conditions.

Conducts comprehensive mission planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements, and flight plan filing.

Performs pre-flight checks, ensures proper aircraft loading/weight distribution, and briefs crew members on emergency procedures.

Operates aircraft within specified safety parameters, coordinating with ground units and controlling agencies.

Completes post-flight documentation, including flight reports and aircraft logs, and coordinates with maintenance personnel.

Serves as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), representing the Air Commander with the authority to direct mission requirements, divert aircraft, and manage emergency actions.

Rotates through Air Operations functional areas, including Training and Scheduling, Operational Planning, Safety Program administration, and Inspector General support.
Required Qualifications

Military Membership:
Must be a member of the National Guard. This is an excepted service position requiring a compatible military assignment in the Oklahoma Air National Guard.

Education:
A mandatory undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. A graduate degree from an accredited institution or professional military education school is preferred.

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certification:
Must possess Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates OR appropriate military aviation certifications and ratings in the assigned main-frame aircraft.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs (active duty, reserve, or National Guard).

Medical Standards:
Must maintain the same medical standards required for USAF military pilots.

Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.

Licensing:
Must possess a valid state driver’s license and qualify to operate government motor vehicles in accordance with Air Force directives.

Military Grade:
O-1 through O-4.

Must register for Selective Service (for males born after 31 December 1959).

Subject to background investigation and potential trial or probationary period (up to two years).

Mandatory participation in direct deposit.

Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
