Airplane Pilot (C-130) – Wyoming Air National Guard
Position Summary:
The Wyoming Air National Guard is seeking a qualified Airplane Pilot (Position Description Number PDD0253P02) for the 153d Operations Support Squadron. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this role is to pilot the C-130 aircraft and provide administrative support for the Air Operations program. Military affiliation is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Piloting advanced multi-engine military aircraft on tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques.

Conducting comprehensive flight planning, including weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirement calculations, and flight plan filing.

Performing rigorous pre-flight inspections, including verification of loading/weight distribution and maintenance service conditions.

Briefing passengers and crew on emergency procedures and flight objectives.

Operating aircraft in accordance with flight manual parameters, maintaining constant communication with ground units, and executing emergency procedures as necessary.

Completing post-flight duties, including maintenance logs, flight reports, and equipment inspections.

Serving as the Air Commander’s representative in the capacity of Supervisor of Flying (SOF) to ensure mission efficiency and safety.
Mandatory Qualifications:

Education:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required. A graduate degree is considered optimal.

Aviation Certification:
Possession of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates OR appropriate military certifications/ratings in the C-130H.

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Specialized Experience:
A minimum of 24 months of experience in military or civilian aviation, including at least 24 months of experience piloting or instructing in C-130 aircraft. This experience must encompass mission planning, flight safety program management, and operational risk management.

Military Requirement:
Must possess AFSC 11M (C-130 Mobility Pilot). Military grade must be between O-2/1Lt and O-5/Lt Col.

Licensure:
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Conditions of Employment:

Applicants must be current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard members or be willing to join the Wyoming Air National Guard prior to appointment.

Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to classified information.

Must maintain medical standards equivalent to USAF military pilots.

Candidates may be required to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and must be available for travel by air.

Successful completion of a two-year trial period may be required.

Federal employment is subject to a background investigation.
