Job Title: Airplane Pilot (T32) - Air National Guard

Position Summary
This is an Air National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service position. The incumbent serves as a pilot for advanced, single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft. Responsibilities involve conducting tactical and non-tactical missions using precision instrument flight techniques. The pilot must maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, emergency procedures, and mission qualifications while adhering to all flight parameters and safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Execute flight operations, including pre-flight planning (weather analysis, route mapping, fuel requirements) and post-flight documentation (logs, reports, maintenance coordination).

Operate aircraft with a focus on safety, coordinating with ground units and controlling activities throughout all flight phases.

Serve as the Supervisor of Flying (SOF), acting as the Air Commander’s representative with authority to manage mission requirements, airspace utilization, and emergency actions.

Perform administrative tasks across functional areas, including Training and Scheduling, Operational Planning, and Safety Program management.

Design comprehensive training scenarios, develop wartime and contingency plans, and oversee unit safety programs in accordance with Air Force, ANG, and OSHA directives.
Required Qualifications

Membership Requirement:
Must be a member of the Minnesota Air National Guard or eligible for immediate enlistment/appointment.

Education:
A mandatory undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. A graduate degree is considered an asset.

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certifications:
Must hold Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications from accredited civilian programs OR aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of working experience in civilian aviation, military aviation (active duty or reserve), Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities, or Air National Guard Wing/Operations groups. Experience must include piloting or instructing in fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft.

Military Compatibility:
Must be assigned to a compatible military position and maintain a compatible Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC).

Medical Standards:
Must maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots.

Military Grade:
Must hold an officer rank between 1st Lt/O2 and Lt Col/O5.
