Position Summary
The Airplane Pilot performs advanced duties operating single or multi-engine military aircraft, including high-performance fighter aircraft, for tactical and non-tactical missions. The incumbent utilizes advanced precision instrument flight techniques, adheres to strict flight parameters, and maintains comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems under normal and emergency conditions. The role involves extensive mission planning, preflight verification, safe flight operation, and post-flight reporting. Additionally, the pilot serves as the Air Commander’s representative when performing Supervisor of Flying (SOF) duties and may rotate through administrative program support functions including Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and the Inspector General office.
Key Responsibilities

Execute normal flight procedures and standard maneuvers in all weather conditions using air navigational aids.

Conduct mission planning, including route study, weather analysis, fuel requirements, and flight plan filing.

Ensure safe aircraft operation by monitoring performance, coordinating with ground units, and adhering to flight manual parameters.

Manage post-flight documentation, including logs, forms, and maintenance coordination.

Support unit operations in Training and Scheduling, Plans, Safety, and Inspector General functions as required.
Qualifications

Education:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (transcripts required).

Training:
Graduation from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).

Certifications:
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications from an accredited civilian program OR aviation certifications from an accredited military aviation school (documentation required).

Experience:
Must possess at least two years of specialized experience in civilian or military aviation programs, or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in piloting specific mainframe military aircraft, mission planning, and instructional techniques.

Technical Requirements:
Must be AFSC qualified in 11M3C or capable of qualifying within six months of hire. Must maintain USAF military pilot medical standards.
